Ladies and Gents: Fictionist has been working some serious magic in the studio.
(and I have been doing some less-serious doodling on the chalkboard...)

They have been in the studio for the past four weeks working Monday through Saturday ten to ten. It is fun, exciting, and totally exhausting. They are now taking a temporary intermission for a couple of reasons - the most pressing reasons being 1) Aaron's new baby 2) Stuarts new baby. Excuses, excuses, I know...
The last week of recording was especially hectic with the arrival of the first two Fictionist babies while anxiously trying to wrap up rough demos. Once the baby fever excitement has settled they'll return to the studio to polish up the album. I know I said I have moments of doubt and anxiety - but after spending time in the studio and listening to this music come together - I am nothing but excited. This will be a beautiful album, I can't wait to share it with you (next year?... sometime before I'm old... wink, wink).
My sister-in-law, Liz, plays the cello and specializes in celtic cello - so basically, she can rock out - ch-ello! We added a little family girl-power to the recording for a day. Liz played a few parts on a song and they sent me to the mic too to sing a fifteen second "ooo". It was exhilarating and I really hope those few seconds make the cut because I want to go down in history as the lady who "ooo'd".
I am grateful for the hard work these boys have put into the project. Also for their producer, Ron Aniello, who has been great source of wisdom and vision. I'm also grateful for my parents, Hum's parents, and all the parents/family members who drop by the studio bearing gifts of fruit and snacks and (most importantly) love and support.
Watch a short video I filmed of Aaron and Brandon's studio update:
>> Are you in the Provo area? Stop by Velour Saturday night to hear The Arcadians play. I got to judge the battle of the bands a few weeks ago and guess who I voted for? Yep. These guys are young in age, old in spirit, and are onto something lovely with their music. Here's a demo you can enjoy.

laughing so hard...but in all seriousness i do hope you go down as the lady that ooo'd. so fun! power of positive thinking!
