When people ask me what I did last weekend I like to say, "I hung out with naked people". (How else do you make a good impression on new friends?) Well, let me back up a little bit, I only got to hang out with one naked person and it was in an art class. For those of you who have not taken life drawing before, you should know one thing: art naked (or I should say, the nude figure) isn't nearly as exciting as you think it might be. Artists like to explain that we are like doctors as we approach the figure. It's a learning experience.
I am excited to be guest posting once again at the lovely Twig Creative. This time I'm talking about gesture drawing and how to loosen up and let your creative intuition flow. Drop on by to read about how I would hang onto swimsuit magazines as a teenager so I could draw the figure and to hear me babble about how to draw real good.
>> Catch up on all of my art tips post series at Twig Creative!
>> Don't forget to read (or re-read?) my favorite story about my Grandma's naked paintings. Remember all the trouble I caused when I made that post?
>> I am blushing because I got my fictionist letterpress prints featured on the Lifestyle Crafts Blog!

inhale, exhale...its okay!
ReplyDeletesuch a hard class to take...moving things aren't easy to draw. its why many do stills instead of trying to grasp the complexity of the human form in motion.
good for you!!
proportion, posture, and position...only masters can get all three right the first time...such a fun challenge as an artist.
smiles,
anna
