rarely tidy

I got my craft on this weekend and I (here a little, there a little) am trying to turn this new house into a "home".  I'm pretty easy to please when you get down to it.  I kind of like bare walls better than dressed walls, and as long as Hum is there and we have a couch to watch movies on - it feels like home to me!

I got this cool typewriter at the thrift store about a year ago and I wanted to display it somehow.  It came with a cute briefcase, but I didn't realize it was bolted down so securely to that cute little briefcase you could probably drop it off a building and it would still stay intact.  Hum came home the other day to find me sitting on top of the case with a hammer in hand and look of fury mixed with a little vengeance smeared across my face.  I banged at that thing for a long time trying to set the typewriter free with no luck, and then Hum came to the rescue and busted it out of there pronto.  He's such a a show off!... but a very cute show off at that.

I set it on this little side table (I can't wait to repaint that puppy) I thought it would be fun to display one of the many unhung prints I own that are sitting in a box in our shed collecting dust.

I got this print from this online shop a while ago (they have lots of cute designs and you can choose the print color!).  I often feel like we live life in a continual state of crazy, and it's hard to keep crazy clean!  Our house home is far from tidy but I love it non the less.  Strewn socks, dishes in the sink, mail still in the mailbox... welcome home.  I have been trying to find a rhythm that works for me to keep the house somewhat clean, and then be okay with the in between stages the rest of the time.  Now, thanks to my new print display, I won't have to apologize to any visitors for the continual state of craziness at our house, I can simply point to the sign and smile.

  2. Cute idea! I need to get on the print buying for my own. I did the same with my typewriter a while ago until I realized it had a release button! I would have torn it up.
