girl crush
Last night Hum and I went to see St. Vincent. If you've been around this blog for a while, you probably know that I am just a teensy bit obsessed with her music. I bought tickets months ago, and have been counting down the days with excitement.
Honestly? It was the best show I have ever seen. She played amazing solos on her guitar, had a great line up of effects and sounds, and her vocals were perfect. In my next life, I think I'll be her. Or Albus, because he is a spoiled little brat with two dog beds and a lot of treats. But probably her, because she can sing way better than Albus.
We hung around for a little while and got to meet Annie. She was very nice and very patient with all of my funny questions about her education, guitar playing, successes in the music industry... etc. She said she's been at this for about 17 years and has been with her record label for about 4 years. It made me think about that 10,000 hour post from a couple of months ago. She has definitely put the time into this and I'm happy to see she's having so much success. Oh and by the way, it turns out that going into a creative field is hard work. What!?
So thank you, Annie, for putting on an amazing show and for signing our poster "dear caitlin and robbie, I love you immensely". I swear I didn't tell her to write that. I also swear I'm not wearing my new st. vincent t-shirt right now and reminiscing on what a great night I had last night like a really creepy first date with a creepy person. But I do hope we can go out again sometime, I think I felt a little magic in the air.
